Local Cardiologist on Team that Discovered Clogged Arteries in Mummies
Dr. Samuel Wann, cardiologist at Columbia St. Mary's, was on a research team that traveled to Lima, Peru to research mummies. The mummies are 4,000 years old, and the research team found they had clogged arteries. Dr. Wann and his team are now researching if that means people are physiologically inclined to get heart disease as they age.
