It’s usually around this time of the year that we have our first run-in with cool weather. By that I mean we typically have a couple days with highs just in the 60s. It looks like that will happen this weekend. There are a couple things to keep in mind when cool weather makes a visit during late August.
First, highs in the 60s aren’t really all that far below normal. The weekend’s normal high temperature is 77 degrees. The forecast is for highs in the mid to upper 60s. So, yes, it will be cool. But it won’t be like we’ll be in record cool territory. Second, there will undoubtedly be plenty more warm weather to come. We typically have several days in September with highs in the 70s and even 80s. We’ve even hit 91 degrees as late as September 29th in 1953. Last September, Milwaukee had 4 days with highs in the 80s. In 2007, Milwaukee had 9 days with highs in the 80s and 1 day in the 90s. The nice thing about warm weather in September, and even October, is that is often occurs without real high humidity.
