Weather WisdomWeather Wisdom - Saturday, November 1, 2008By John Malan
The high temperature for the last day of October was 71 degrees in Milwaukee, and along with sunshine and very dry air the tricksters had a real weather treat on Friday. A cold front passed through southeast Wisconsin late in the day and the northeast winds behind that front will cool things down a bit today, but temperatures will remain rather seasonal. Sunshine will be plentiful today but clouds rolls back in tonight and tomorrow as a warm front moves back toward the state and will return the mild air for early next week.
October ended for the record books as a wet month with temperatures right around average. The monthly temperature was just shy of fifty-two degrees which is essentially the average and precipitation was 2.62 inches which was thirteen hundreds more than average. Warm days were few and far between with only four days in the seventies, one of those falling on the last day of the month. The warmest occurred on the 12th with a maximum of 78 degrees while the coldest was set just a few days back when the first freezing temperature of autumn was recorded on the 29th with a low of thirty-two degrees.
The first trace of snowfall was observed on the 26th and 27th and the month was rather sunny with only two overcast days.
