It certainly feels like autumn around Wisconsin today with high temperatures barely reaching sixty degrees across the state and chilly northwest winds forcing folks to bring out the jackets. The cool pattern will continue all week before we start a small warm-up around the weekend bringing better weather to Milwaukee for the Playoff games on Saturday and Sunday at Miller Park. Overnight temperatures will also be rather cool falling back into the forties in most locations with some thirties across the northern part of the state. The month of October in Milwaukee is the true autumn transitional month where we start with green color and end with all of the leaves gone and gray weather settling in for most days. The cloudy time of the year begins later this month as the average amount of overcast days during the month closes in on more than half at 14 days. The period from November through April does average more than half of the days each month as overcast. Precipitation for October starts a downward trend also with an average of less than three inches at 2.49 inches, and this is the first month in autumn with average snowfall which is four-tenths of an inch in October. There has never been a ninety degree or below zero temperature recorded during this month in Milwaukee.
