Another pleasant day is on tap for Wisconsin completing about a week of sunny and warm early autumn weather conditions. Temperatures will range in the mid-seventies across the area for much of the day before a cold front moves in late taking temperatures down near Lake Michigan. That front may touch off a brief shower or thundershower in the afternoon in the Milwaukee area.
I had the pleasure of golfing on Friday at the beautiful Rolling Hills Golf Course in Oconomowoc near Lac La Belle and a gentleman named Bob from Watertown stopped and commented on the warm weather which hit a high temperature there of 82 degrees. He asked how late in the season southeast Wisconsin can expect temperatures above eighty degrees in the Milwaukee area.
Eighty degree temperatures are actually quite common in September, even late in the month. Record daily high temperatures above eighty degrees can be found in every day of the month in September. While high temperatures in the eighties aren’t as common in October, they do occur in Milwaukee. The latest date for an eighty degree high temperature was 80 degrees on October 31st in 1950. There have been no eighties recorded from November 1st through March 26th in Milwaukee. The latest ninety occurred on September 29th in 1953 when the maximum hit 91 degrees.
