John Malan

The weather forecast for Election Day across the state is spectacular with record warm temperatures in many locations and plenty of sunshine. The winds will be a bit breezy from the southwest at about ten to twenty miles per hour, but it will feel nice for the beginning of November. The warm weather conditions will continue tomorrow before a cold front changes the weather back to a cooler pattern on Thursday, and that change will flow into the coming weekend.

The high temperature today and lack of precipitation represents some of the best weather for a presidential election in the Milwaukee area in recent history. The past two presidential elections in 2004 and 2000 that resulted in George W. Bush as our president was average for temperatures with high temperatures in the fifty degree range. While there was no significant precipitation in 2000 there was rain on the Election Day back in 2004. The coldest since 1980 was in 1992 when clouds and flurries were around the area and the high temperature was a chilly 37 degrees. There was also precipitation during Bill Clinton’s first Election Day in 1988 when thunderstorms were recorded and the maximum was only fifty-five degrees.

On Election Day in 1984 and 1980 high temperatures were in the fifties and there was no precipitation.
