We have gone the entire month without a 60 degree day. We were in the 50s five times, with the warmest being 52, but we were warmer in January with highs in the 50s and the record high of 63. This March has been chilly with an average temperature of 31.95, or 3 degrees below normal. Do you remember last March? If not, it was beautiful! We had 8 days with highs at least 60 degrees. On March 25th we had a record high of 79 and on the 26th it was a record 80 degrees. Last March was 4.9 degrees warmer than normal. Oh what a difference a year makes.
Many people ask why we don’t talk about the 90 day outlook anymore. We will mention it, but the probability of a 90 day outlook being correct is unlikely so we don’t emphasize it too much. This past winter outlook was for slightly above normal precipitation and above normal temperatures. The outlook was not correct, but not entirely wrong. We were not slightly above normal precipitation; we were much above with 78.9” of snow from December 1st until February 29th. That is 38.6” above normal. This winter’s normal temperature was 23.55 degrees, or -.56 below normal. It would have been much colder if it were not for those few warm days in January that skewed the average. By the way, this past winter was the coldest since 2001 for the
