Many Hours Devoted To Summerfest Setup

The music at Summerfest is, of course, a big attraction for many, but you can’t forget the food or the people watching.

It takes hours of fine tuning to get each band set up and ready to play.

“The Marcus Amphitheatre has a load in, usually starts at 7:00 a.m., they build the entire stage and it runs all day. That team will work until 2:00 a.m.,” Summerfest Spokesman John Boler said.

The music isn’t the only thing to get ready at Summerfest. There’s also the food!

“From a food and beverage perspective, our food and beverage people are bringing in a lot of new products. They’re setting up, cleaning, prepping,” Boler said.

“We evaluate the groups that are playing. Historically, what the crowds have been like on those days to prepare, as far as the crowds that are coming down,” Mike Besson of Sabor’s said.

It takes 40 full time Summerfest staffers to get the Big Gig ready, not to mention more than 2,000 seasonal workers, contractors and vendors…and more than 400 volunteers.
