Favre Fans Looking For Jets Gear
By Katie DeLong
GREENDALE - Brett Favre now sports a New York Jets jersey. It may be a painful image for some, but for others, the rush is on to get Brett Favre New York Jets gear. It's difficult to find. "I looked at other places yesterday. Of course, nothing to be found,” Mark Miller said. Miller went through the racks at Fan Fair in Southridge Mall, searching for Number Four on a Jets jersey. TODAY’S TMJ4’s Tom Murray: "Is it strange to be looking for a Favre jersey…other than the Packers?" "I could have never dreamt this would have happened,” Miller said. They've got the Packers version, and Falcons too. Remember that was Brett’s first team, but official Favre Jets gear has not made it to Wisconsin stores yet. "Stores in New York, the Jets Pro Shop in New York, they're going to get priority over us,” David Kleist of Fan Fare said. Since the Packers decided not to retire Number Four, ticket brokers have seen a drop in demand for the home opener. "I had about a half doze cancellations from people that were coming in from as far away as California, Iowa,” Deluxe Tix Owner Mark Pemper said. Pemper says Packers fans were willing to pay a major premium to watch Favre's number raised in glory during Monday Night Football against the Vikings. "They were disappointed because that's what they wanted to see,” Pemper said. Back at Southridge, with no Favre to find, Miller picks up a Jets jersey with the QB Brett replaced...half price by the way. "This is an interim item and I’ll be going for the Favre jersey once they're available,” Miller said.
