Brewers Acquire Claudio Vargas

MILWAUKEE - The Brewers acquired lefthanded pitcher Claudio Vargas from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for catching prospect Vinny Rottino Friday.

Vargas, 31, is 0-0 with a 1.64 ERA in eight relief appearances for the Dodgers this season.  With Milwaukee in 2007, he posted an 11-6 record with a 5.09 ERA before being released in March 2008.

Vargas is expected to report to the Brewers in San Diego Saturday and will wear jersey number 50.
