Brewers NewsBernie Brewers Gets New Landing Splash PadMILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers' mascot is making a big splash again, even though he no longer slides from his famous chalet into a mug of beer. The Brewers unveiled Bernie's Splash Zone on Tuesday. The new setup will send jets of water shooting up through air-pressurized water cannons after each Brewers' home run beginning Monday. The Brewers say the cannons will provide mists of water this season, but they may turn it up next season to soak fans in the section below. Milwaukee introduced Bernie's slide in 1973 at County Stadium. It used to end in a mug of beer. The splash zone was built and is sponsored by Kalahari Resorts, which has two indoor waterparks. Kalahari signed a three-year advertising deal with the Brewers. Financial terms were not released. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
