Big market clubs like the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels could offer Sabathia some serious money. Some believe the bidding will even surpass the six-year, $137.5 extension given left-hander Johan Santana by the New York Mets last winter. The Brewers are believed to have offered Sabathia $100 million over five years. Manager Doug Melvin says he doesn't expect to hear from Sabathia's agency, Legacy Sports, on a counteroffer until at least tomorrow. Sabathia went 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA in 17 starts with the Brewers after coming from Cleveland in an early July trade. ------ Information from: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, http://www.jsonline.com (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
