THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) -- A 3-pointer by Alyssa Karel helped the Badgers overcome the loss of an 11-point lead to defeat Villanova 47-45 on Thursday in the Paradise Jam. Wisconsin lost its 11-point lead in the second half and was still trailing by two points with 1:26 left. Karel then provided a 3-pointer that gave the Badgers back the lead at 44-43. Villanova's Laura Kurz missed a layup with 36 seconds remaining, and freshman forward Anya Covington grabbed the board to give the Badgers the ball. Villanova fouled Wisconsin's Rae Lin D'Alie three times to get into the bonus, and D'Alie made two free throws. A layup by Tia Grant pulled the Wildcats within one at 46-45 with 12 seconds left, but D'Alie made one-of-two free throws to give Wisconsin the win. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
