WIAA Baseball: Marquette 12, Franklin 3

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) -- Nolan Peterson had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs as defending champion Marquette University High School beat Franklin 12-3 on Friday.

The win came in semifinal action of the WIAA Summer Baseball Tournament in Stevens Point. The Hilltoppers (21-20) will face Hartland Arrowhead in the championship game later Friday.

Peterson delivered a two-run single in the third inning and added a two-run homer in the sixth. He was also the winning pitcher.

Joe Cannon had three hits for Marquette, while Ryan McShane, Sam Beres and Arnie Leinfelder each had two.

Ryan Dalton had two hits for Franklin (25-14), and Ian Schiltz drove in a pair of runs.

Jacob Mahnke was charged with the loss in relief of Schiltz.
