Three Local Teams Play For Soccer Titles

DSHA, Catholic Memorial & University School Go For Gold

MILWAUKEE - Elise Gottsacker's goal in the second overtime gave Divine Savior a 3-2 victory over Brookfield East tonight in Division 1 semifinals of the WIAA Girls Soccer Tournament. Divine Savior (23-1-1) advanced to the title game tomorrow against Waunakee (23-2-1), which beat Bay Port 4-0 in the other semifinal. Divine Savior and East (18-1-4) deadlocked 2-2 at the end of regulation. Rachael Koontz had scored first for Divine Savior, but Kate O'Brien tied it for East. Then Meghan Flannery scored for Divine Savior but Alex Piercy tied it with a goal at the 69:33 mark. Gottsacker's game-winner at the 95:22 mark came off an assist by Flannery. Waunakee built a 3-0 lead over Bay Port (19-2-4) after one period on a goal by Tayor Madigan, a penalty kick by Sarah Gugel and an unassisted goal by Tayor Madigan. Jessica Hofbauer added the final goal. In Division 2, McFarland and Catholic Memorial of Waukesha played to a 0-0 tie before Memorial (25-2-2) won a shootout, 4-3, to advance to Saturday's championship game against Appleton Xavier (20-2-2). Angie Berens got the final shootout goal to give Memorial the win. Xavier got two second-period goals by Chelsea Colling to sew up a 3-0 victory over Grafton (9-10-1) in the other semifinal. In Division 3, University School of Milwaukee (18-0-2) won 3-0 over Palmyra-Eagle (16-6-3) on unassisted goals by Betsy Lucas, Kelsie Harris and Morgan Geimer. University School advanced to the title game Saturday against New Holstein (21-3-2), which beat St. Mary Central (21-7) 2-1 on Kayla Konen's tie-breaking goal at the 78:15 mark off an assist by Pamela Lisowe.
