5-Time State Champ To Coach At Grafton

By Lance Allan

GRAFTON-DIENER Diener to be named head coach at Grafton GRAFTON, Wis. (AP) -- The coach who led perennial high school powerhouse Milwaukee Vincent to five state championships is taking on a new challenge. Tom Diener (DEE'-ner) resigned in April -- leaving behind a 313-and-60 record at Vincent in 15 seasons. Diener is expected to be introduced later today as the new boys basketball coach at Grafton High School. The Black Hawks are 1-and-41 in the North Shore Conference the last three seasons. Last season, Grafton went 0-and-21. Diener is part of a family with deep basketball roots in Wisconsin. Diener's brother, Dick, compiled a record of 434-142 in 22 seasons at Fond du Lac and three at Colfax. His nephew Travis plays for the Indiana Pacers.
