MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Mikayla Hogan scored six goals for Chippewa Falls McDonell as it easily beat Northland Pines 9-3 Friday in the semifinals of the state high school girls hockey tournament.
With the teams tied 1-1 after one period, Hogan scored three times in the second as McDonell (17-2-1) moved ahead 4-1 to take the lead for good.
Jaime Athens scored twice for Northland Pines (17-6).
Goalie Kiara McChesney had 19 saves for McDonell, while Rene Placek had 28 and Autumn Nielsen 1 for Northland Pines.
McDonell advances to the championship game Saturday against the winner of the game between Onalaska and the Appleton West Co-op, which was scheduled for later Friday.
