MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The younger brother of Brewers slugger Ryan Braun has signed with Milwaukee.
Steve Braun was not selected in June's amateur draft after finishing his senior season at the University of Maryland.
But the Brewers announced Tuesday they signed the 23-year-old second baseman to a free agent deal.
Steve Braun is a year and a half younger than his big brother, the reigning NL Rookie of the Year. Ryan Braun leads the Brewers this season with 24 homers and 71 RBIs coming into play Tuesday.
It's not the first time Milwaukee has sought a sibling.
Milwaukee drafted Jemile Weeks in 2005, but he did not sign. Weeks is the younger brother of current second baseman Rickie Weeks and was drafted by Oakland earlier this year.
