Team mum on future of Braun ballpark banners, merchandise

MILWAUKEE – If you need proof that Ryan Braun is the face of the Brewers franchise, head to the ballpark.
Banners with Braun’s name or photo are around every turn. The team shop is full of his merchandise. As of Tuesday evening, there’s no word from the Brewers’ front office if that’s going to change.
Ryan Braun still has his supporters a day after his darkest hour.
“I still support him,” said Leah Schmecht of Milwaukee. “I think he’s a really good player. I think he made a mistake.”
But some loyal team fans say they will not be in the market for Braun merchandise.
“By me buying something like that would be supporting him and I’m not really a supporter of him right now,” said Rueben Flores.
Braun may have left town, but he is still everywhere at Miller Park. A giant Braun photo surrounds the front door of the Brewers Team Store. Inside, there are Braun pennants, jerseys, T-shirts, infant onesies and even plush toys. The team shop would look pretty bare if all the Braun gear was pulled from the shelves.
TODAY’S TMJ4 asked a Brewers spokesperson if fans can return or exchange Braun merchandise. The team has not yet responded.
