Brewers' persistence not enough to nab Nationals
WASHINGTON - The Milwaukee Brewers' late power surge in the 7th inning and a late rally in the ninth were not enough to continue the team's mini-winning streak in Washington.
The Nationals upended the Brewers 8-5 in a brunch-time matinee in the nation's capital on the 4th of July.
The telling blow came in the 7th inning, after Milwaukee fought back to tie the game.
As reported by the Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak:
Wow, what a turn there. Brewers fight back to 5-5 then Kintzler surrenders a three-run HR to Wilson Ramos. Nats now up 8-5 in the seventh.— Todd Rosiak (@Todd_Rosiak) July 4, 2013
In fact, each time the Brewers scored, the Nationals answered back in the bottom of that inning.
The Brewers face the New York Mets at 6:35 p.m. Friday night at Miller Park.
