Brewers Sign Capuano to Minor League Contract
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have signed free agent pitcher Chris Capuano to a minor league contract.
The left-hander became a free agent Friday when Milwaukee decided not to tender him a contract for next season. The Brewers continued to negotiate with Capuano and signed him to the minor league deal Tuesday with an invitation to major league camp.
Capuano missed last season after injuring his pitching elbow in an exhibition game in March. The 30-year-old decided to try rehabilitation rather than surgery but never returned.
Capuano won 18 games in 2005 and made the National League All-Star team in 2006. He bolted to a 5-0 record in 2007 but lost his last 12 decisions of the year.
