Local SportsBoys and Girls Club Kids Enjoy Brewers Tailgating ExperienceBy Katie DeLong
MILWAUKEE - How would you like to throw out the first pitch at a brewer’s game?
Just imagine the pressure. That's exactly how Isaiah Batchelor felt Monday afternoon...and he's just 6 years old!
TODAY’S TMJ4’s Diane Pathieu got a chance to talk to little Isaiah. It's all part of a unique experience thanks to the Boys and Girls Club.
Over one-thousand kids from across the Milwaukee area got a chance to eat hot dogs, chips, cookies and soda…warm up…and get ready for some baseball Monday afternoon.
It’s all part of the “Little Brewers Club.” Kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, U.S. Cellular and the Milwaukee Brewers joined together to teach young kids baseball fundamentals, from the inside out.
Monday, the program got a unique gift from Governor Jim Doyle. The club got a big check, and 100 phones from U.S. Cellular with a year’s worth of free service.
It’s a big help to a great organization.
“Whatever resources we can get here in Milwaukee and the state that benefit our kids is wonderful,”
Monday was even more meaningful for little Isaiah…because he got to throw out the first pitch!
Diane Pathieu: “How long did it take you to practice that?”
“Um, two days,” Isaiah said.
Diane Pathieu: “Are you nervous?” Isaiah shakes his head.
Diane Pathieu: “There’s a lot of people here!”
“There is!” Isaiah said.
All of the kids stuck around and watched the game and even met some of the Brewers players.
