Former Vincent Coach Ready for Challenge That Awaits

GRAFTON - He's used to coaching for state titles. Now he's headed to a school hungry for any wins. Tom Diener resigned from Milwaukee Vincent in April -- leaving behind a 313-and-60 record and 5 state championships in 15 seasons. Diener was introduced today as the new boys basketball coach at Grafton High School, a school that didn't win a game last season. In fact, the Black Hawks are 1-and-41 in the North Shore Conference the last three seasons. In his afternoon news conference, Diener said he had several enticing offers, Grafton offerd the best fit. His wife teaches at nearby Cedarburg. Diener said his vision is to have a team in place in fiveyears that will play hard, have fun, win and be a team that everyone in the community will want to watch. He also said he understands it will be a long and sometimes difficult path to reach that point.
