Brewers Sign Hart, Gagne

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Reliever Eric Gagne and outfielder Corey Hart are back with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers and hart avoided an arbitration hearing scheduled for Wednesday by agreeing to a one-year contract.  Terms were not disclosed.

Gagne agreed to a minor-league contract today with an invitation to the major league camp.

The right-hander was signed to a $10 million, one-year contract last year but started off poorly and ended up on the disabled list.

Gagne was the 2003 NL Cy Young winner, but has struggled with consistency and injuries in stops with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas and Boston.

Gagne finished last season 4-3 with a 5.44 ERA and 10 saves in 50 appearances, mainly pitching the eighth inning to set up Salomon Torres.

Torres retired in the offseason.
