Sat. Final: UWGB 72, UWM 68
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Troy Cotton's 3-pointer with 3:15 remaining snapped a 65-65 tie and sent Wisconsin-Green Bay to a 72-68 Horizon League victory over rival Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday.
Rahmon Fletcher followed Cotton's huge 3 by slicing through the Panthers' defense for a layup to give Green Bay (19-6, 11-2) a 70-65 lead. James Eayrs, who made several clutch plays for Milwaukee (14-9, 9-4), converted in the post for a three-point play to cut it to 70-68.
The Panthers had a chance to tie with about a minute left. But the 5-foot-10 Fletcher blocked Tony Boyle's drive, and Green Bay's Terry Evans dove for the loose ball and called timeout.
Green Bay's Mike Schachtner hit one of two free throws on the ensuing possession to make it 71-68, and Milwaukee called timeout with 14.2 seconds remaining.
Boyle, however, missed everything on a 3-pointer -- begging for a foul as he lay on the floor -- and Schachtner hit a free throw with three seconds left to ice it.
