Hamm Looking for More Gold
2004 Gold Medalist in Position to Win Again
Rick Rietbrock
At the Olympic Summit in Chicago, Paul and Morgan Hamm made their way through the media throng, almost as swiftly as Paul has beaten the competition this year winning all three meets in preparation for Beijing.
"It feels like I'm in a similar situation as the last Olympics," says Hamm. "I'm competting in all the same competitions so it feels like I'm reliving it once again. Although in the 2004 run to the Olympics I did not do as well."
Only now after four years does the gold medal controversy come up when it was determined after Athens that the wrong point value was given to his closest competitor.
"I dont mind talking about it what happened to me," says Hamm. "I felt I handled it well. I felt like it the medal ended up in the rightful winner. It is just a situation that was unfortunate. I've moved on."
The only American to win gold in the individual all-around, you know there is nothing more he'd like than to silence the critics and add another.
