86-76 Finish Had CC Stuck AroundBy Todd WelterIn the back of every Brewers fans minds is where would the Brewers end up if CC Sabathia accepted the Brewers offer of $100 million to stick around town for five years last offseason. According to AccuScore.com, the Brewers would finish out the season at 86-76. Since Sabathia took over 162 million from the Yankees and the Brewers signed Braden Looper to be plugged into the rotation, AccuScore has the Brewers finishing up the year at 79-83. According to AccuScore's simulations, Sabathia would have improved the Crew's chances of winning by 20-percent per game. Meaning if Sabathia had 35 starts, the Brewers would probably win seven more games. Would Sabathia have meant a division crown even with 86 wins? Not when AccuScore projected the Cardinals to win 91 games in a scenario of Sabathia pitching for the Crew (without CC on the Brewers roster, AccuScore is projecting the Cardinals to pick up two more wins). As a consolation prize, the Brewers would be in the thick of the wild card race.
