Melvin Removes Bill Castro as Brewers Pitching Coach

By Jay Sorgi

The Milwaukee Brewers have removed Bill Castro, who has served the Brewers for the last 17 years as a member of the team's staff, from the role of pitching coach.

The Brewers have chosen Chris Bosio, a former Brewer from 1986-92 and the team's AAA pitching coach in Nashville, as their interim pitching coach.

“We appreciate and admire the dedication and tireless work ethic put forth by Bill Castro over the last 18 seasons,” said Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin in a statement. “A move like this is never easy to make, especially given Bill’s longevity with the organization and considering how hard he worked to reach this position.”

The Brewers ranked 27th in Major League Baseball in ERA (4.84), 26th in walks allowed (421) and 30th in home runs allowed (151) through games on August 12th.
