Bottom 9th

3:56 p.m.
Nathan vs. Hardy
"Swingandamiss...struck him out...and this one is over."

Twitter: incdraggerCorey Hart, everyone. #obsolete

3:55 p.m.  2 Out
Nathan vs. Cameron

More:
Journal Sentinel beat writer and Brewers 360 contributor Tom Haudricourt

Not-so-well-hit-fly-ball into center and Milwaukee has its last out.to go

3:53 p.m.  1 Out
Nathan vs. Hart
On a full count, Hart strikes out swinging and the Twins fans collectively scream like nuts.

Top 9th

3:50 p.m.  3 Out
Smith vs. Cuddyer
Cuddyer goes to right to end the inning.  Miracle, boys, miracle!

3:49 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Smith vs. Busher
The .207 PH is incredibly fooled on strike three.  Looked like me at the plate.

3:47 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Smith vs. Morneau
Uh, scratch that immediate hope on Smith.  He walks Morneau.

3:46 p.m.  1 Out
Smith vs. Mauer

An inside pitch K's Mauer.  We may have a reliever here.

Bottom 8th

3:43 p.m.  3 Out
Gurrier vs. Braun
K ends the threat.  Darn.

3:41 p.m.  2 Out
Minnesota 6, Milwaukee 4
Gurrier vs. Braun
Hey..get up, get up, get outta here and gone...no doubter.  A Twins fan throws the ball back on the field.  C'mon on, have a little appreciation for your hosts!

3:39 p.m.  2 Out
Gurrier vs. McGehee
Fly ball went to Span at the warning track.

3:37 p.m.  1 Out
Gurrier vs. Counsell
Whitefish Bay's best goes opposite field to Span's glove.

Top 8th

3:34 p.m.  3 Out
Smith vs. Harris
Hardy makes a heck of an off-balance throw behind 2nd to end the inning.

3:32 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Smith vs. Span

The center-fielder for Minnesota moved to left, and Braun snags a liner in left-center, but he misses the throw to Fielder which could have been a DP.

3:30 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Smith vs. Gomez
Fly-ball to "medium right center" and Cameron.  Never heard it called medium right-center.  Nice.

3:22 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Smith vs. Tolbert
Liner drops into center field.  This is getting annoying., this first-batter-gets-on-base stuff.

Bottom 7th

3:25 p.m.  3 Out
Dickey vs. Gerut
Pinch hitting does nothing...a grounder to short.  Ho hum drum.

3:23 p.m.  2 Out
Dickey vs. Kendall
A bobbled grounder still beats Kendall, who isn't Carl Lewis, by a step.  Hopefully, Kendall doesn't sing like Carl Lewis, either.

3:21 p.m.  1 Out
Dickey vs. Hardy
Ah, Lynn Dickey...remembering the great point-a-minute days of the 80's.  Wait, this isn't Lynn Dickey?  Oh, R.A. Dickey.

A pop-up near first ends that lack of a threat.

Top 7th

3:19 p.m.  3 Out
DiFelice vs. Crede
Not this time - a foul tip K.

3:15 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Stetter vs. Cuddyer
An intentional pass to bring up someone who just hit a homer off you?

3:14 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Stetter vs. Kubel
A fly ball to right ends the streak.  Not like it's DiMaggio's 56-gamer or anything.

3:13 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Stetter vs. Morneau
Foul-tip swing-and-a-miss and Stetter now has 15 straight outs recorded w/strikeouts.

3:12 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Minnesota 6, Milwaukee 3
Stetter vs. Mauer
Ground rule double to right-center grounds the Brewers' hopes...probably.

3:09 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Minnesota 5, Milwaukee 3
Stetter vs. Mauer
Nice assignment for this year's version of Brian Shouse...but a pass ball goes past Kendall.

3:05 p.m.  Runners on 1st and 3rd
Baker vs. Harris
Liner drops into center for a base hit...and it's perfectly set up with runners at the corners.  Perfectly set up for Narveson to say buh-bye.

3:03 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Baker vs. Span
Again, this dangerous base-runner gets on due to a walk.  Ugh.

Bottom 6th

2:59 p.m.  3 Out
Baker vs. Cameron
Mauer catches a foul tip for a strikeout, but GREAT INNING, GUYS!

2:57 p.m.  2 Out
Baker vs. Hart
Routine bouncer to short.  Boring.  You're not living up to the excitement Casey and Princey pulled off, there, Corey!

2:55 p.m.  1 Out
Minnesota 4, Milwaukee 3
Baker vs. Fielder
A carbon-copy of McGehee's deep shot, except longer.  Into Tundra Territory at Miller Park.  The fielders never moved, just watched it go bye-bye.

2:53 p.m.  1 Out
Baker vs. Braun
Strike Three looking...ugh.

2:51 p.m.  0 Out
Minnesota 4, Milwaukee 2
Baker vs. McGehee
With the mound and plate now in shadow, a bomb to right center gets the GET UP GET OUTTA HERE GONE treatment.

2:47 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Baker vs. Counsell
The longest at bat in human history turns into a walk.

Twitter @BrewTownBeat
The Chorizo takes the sausage race. About d-&# time.

Top 6th

2:45 p.m.  3 Out
Narveson vs. Baker
Another first pitch swing goes to Cameron on a looper.  Not Braden.

2:43 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Narveson vs. Tolbert

A bouncer on the first pitch becomes a base hit.  The pitching woes continue.

2:41 p.m.  2 Out
Minnesota 4, Milwaukee 0
Burns vs. Crede
He jacks one 405 feet to dead center and the thousands of Twins fans there celebrate.

To those who say the Brew Crew needed to have Burns eat up innings...what are eaten innings when the Milwaukee loss column eats up another number?  THree runs isn't impossible to overcome, but now it's harder.

2:39 p.m.  2 Out
Burns vs. Cuddyer
Nice K to finally change the pattern of the game.

New Story on 620wtmj.com: Attanasio Says Brewers are Buyers, Not Sellers

2:38 p.m.  1 Out
Burns vs. Kubel
Cammy with a great jump on Kubel's first-ball swing ends that at-bat.

Bottom 5th

2:35 p.m.  3 Out
Baker vs. Burns
Eeeeeenteresting...they're letting him bat while down three in the 5th.  He bounces it right side to the pitcher.  Three up, three down.

2:32 p.m.  2 Out
Baker vs. Kendall
Foul ball fest continues at Miller Park until Kendall swings and misses for strike 3.

2:31 p.m.  1 Out
Baker vs. Hardy
A fly to right center and Span catches the 370 foot fly ball.  The wall's 385 out there.  Oh well.

Top 5th

2:28 p.m.  3 Out
Burns vs. Morneau
A pop-up that's as high as the upper deck turns into the final out to Kendall.

2:27 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Burns vs. Mauer
Fielder can't reach a grounder to right and it's another threat on the basepaths.

2:26 p.m.  2 Out
Minnesota 3, Milwaukee 0
Burns vs. Harris
With the infield playing out, Harris pulls off a sac fly.

2:24 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 3rd
Burns vs. Span

A liner to right in the corner and Span Carl Lewises his way to third base.

2:22 p.m.  1 Out
Burns vs. Baker
Usually good to have the opposing pitcher start an inning.  Burns, this time around, robs a hit by putting his glove out there and letting the white pellet scream into his glove.

Bottom 4th

2:19 p.m.  3 Out
Baker vs. Cameron
A screaming liner goes again where it turns to bad luck - in the left fielder's glove.

2:16 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Baker vs. Hart
Going to 3-2, a solid liner goes right to Tolbert at 2nd.  If he's not standing right there, it's Fielder vs. the catcher for a play at the plate.

2:14 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Baker vs. Fielder
Baker is in the sun, Prince in the shade - harder to see the ball...but enough for Fielder to get extra bases on a ball that skitters past first base into the corner.

2:13 p.m.  1 Out
Baker vs. Braun
Grounder to short and Harris double pumps and barely guns out Braun, who shows displeasure to ump Ryan Knight.  Not enough to get him tossed out...but Knight was, by one frame of video, right.

Top 4th

2:11 p.m.  3 Out
Burns vs. Tolbert
He bombs one to right field but Corey Hart, as tall as former NBA'er Tom Tolbert (not really) reaches up to snag it near the wall.

2:09 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Burns vs. Crede
Counsell ties his shoes while reaching down for the liner to 2nd.

2:04 p.m.  1 Out, Bases Loaded
Minnesota 2, Milwaukee 0
Burns vs. Cuddyer
A 3-0 count...turns 3-2....then e=mc2 foul balls before he walks in another run.  Bullpen going = amount of runs*the amount of runners on base* how nervous you get.

2:03 p.m.  1 Out, Bases Loaded
Burns vs. Kubel
Oh, this is getting dangerous after the single.

2:02 p.m.  1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Minnesota 1, Milwaukee 0
Burns vs. Morneau
An RBI single as Hart's throw gets cut off.

1:59 p.m.  1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Burns vs. Mauer
A pop-up is just the tonic Burns needed.  (Thanks, NFL Films, for the inspiration for that line.  Super Bowl XIII highlight film.)

1:55 p.m.  Runners on 1st and 2nd
Burns vs. Harris
He tried to bunt but fouled one off...and the bat nailed him en la cabeza.  A grounder goes off of Burns' glove and everyone is safe.  Harris earns a base hit on a misplay.  If he throws a one-hitter, I will scream.

Twitter @haudricourt
Brewers RHP Braden Looper, struck on pitching arm by liner last night, was examined by team doc and only has contusion. Won't miss a start.

1:52 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Burns vs. Span

Whoops...just one n in Span.  This at-bat, he's spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of walks.

Bottom 3rd

1:49 p.m.  3 Out
Baker vs. McGehee
Sweet catch in the stands by a guy who looks like my college roommate, who looks like Craig Counsell, but neither could play like him.  A 93 mph fastball does in McGehee looking.

1:47 p.m.  2 Out
Baker vs. Counsell
A grounder to the right forces Tolbert to charge quickly and catch Counsell, but he does.

1:45 p.m.  1 Out
Baker vs. Burns
Will a guy batting for the 2nd time this year do anything against Baker?  Not when he takes strike three called, though it looked a little high.

Top 3rd

1:42 p.m.  3 Out
Burns vs. Baker
The Twins pitcher goes after the second hit of his MLB career.  I don't think so.  A softer pop-up than the softness of the bear in that toilet paper commercial.  What was that bear?

1:40 p.m.  2 Out
Burns vs. Tolbert
The 6th Brewer to start a game this year - the first besides the now Parra-less starting rotation - induces a grounder to short.

1:38 p.m.  1 Out
Burns vs. Crede
The former Chicago White Sock (is that proper singular for a White Sox player?) first-pitch swings and pops it up into the 3rd base coach's box.

Bottom 2nd Inning

1:37 p.m.  3 Out
Baker vs. Kendall
Pop-fly would be an infield fly rule candidate with zero or one out.  It ends this inning.

1:36 p.m.  2 Out
Baker vs. Hardy
Double play ball.....ack.  The wrong speed of a grounder in the wrong direction.  Right at Harris.

1:33 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Baker vs. Cameron

Cameron let an inside pitch go to draw a walk.  He's a leadoff hitter...though not in the first inning.

Twitter: @darrickhartman
Mike Burns is doing good so far. 6 batters thru 2 innings #brewers. Let's get the bats going.

Top 2nd Inning

1:30 p.m.  3 Out
Burns vs. Cuddyer
Ueck says he got into a "spat" with Macha...not really.  He was fishing for charity - the Make-a-Wish Foundation, while Cuddyer went fishing at three fast balls for a K.

1:29 p.m.  2 Out
Burns vs. Kubel
A 3-1 pitch goes to left center, and the Twins are choosing to go to the skies to end their at-bats.

1:28 p.m.  1 Out
Burns vs. Morneau
Major Burns - his new nickname for me, at least, gets Morneau to fly to Cameron.  Routine.

Bottom 1st Inning

1:26 p.m.  3 Out
Baker vs. Hart
A molasses-like grounder to Tolbert ends a promising inning.  Ugh.

1:24 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 1st and 3rd
Baker vs. Fielder
After seeing his life go before his eyes minutes ago, Fielder gets intentionally walked.  His eyes and psyche are probably thankful.

1:18 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 3rd
Baker vs. Braun
A foul ball went right over the head of Prince Fielder, and he went down and somersaulted to avoid the foul ball.  It missed him by maybe four inches.

Another 35 foul balls or so (not really) up Baker's pitch count.  Then a bouncer to short makes a great play to Harris, and Counsell can't score.

Twitter: @haudricourt
Brewers prospects Alcides Escobar and Brett Lawrie make the "World" roster for the All-Star Futures Game. Lawrie was a 2008 first-rounder.

Twitter: @ewilke
Counsell a DP and a double. The guys on fire geesh!

1:17 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 3rd
Baker vs. McGehee
One of the few consistent bats at this time...gets great wood, but Tolbert takes a special stab at the ball and takes away an RBI with the groundout.

1:15 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Baker vs. Counsell
The aformentioned bowling pin to Spann's bowling ball does come up to bat, and he gets a double safely, even with his painful knee.  Like I said, he's a hockey player.

Top 1st Inning

1:13 p.m.  3 Out
Burns vs. Mauer
On a 3-2 count, "struck him out swinging," just like Ueck can call it!

1:09 p.m.  2 Out
Burns vs. Harris
A bouncer to J.J. gives the most routine double play you could picture, except for Spann bowling-balling into Counsell.  He has to get help from the training staff.

Someone explain to me why the Brew Crew is wearing blue in the middle of the day when it's 90 degrees?

While I give my fashion thoughts, Counsell toughs it out and stays in the game.  He's a hockey player.

1:07 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Burns vs. Spann
We're underway with a strike from Burns, but he eventually lets him on with a leadoff walk.

Pregame

12:26 p.m.
It's either been luck, mistakes or an explosive performance in a hair-raising game that's given the Brewers their victories in the last week and a half.

A steady-as-she-goes, more convincing win today would ease my mind, and a lot of people's minds, that this team can turn the corner and regularly compete the way they ought to in order to meet this squad's playoff expectations.  (Granted, one game is less than 1% of a season.)

Twitter: @haudricourt
Mike Burns, who has played for five oganizations and made 46 relief appearances in majors, gets first big-league start today vs. Minn.
