Greg Jennings. | Photo: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Jennings "Pretty Close" To DealBy By Jay SorgiPackers wide receiver Greg Jennings says he is close to guaranteeing he will remain in a green and gold uniform for years to come. Jennings said after a mandatory minicamp practice Monday that he and the Packers are close to a new deal. He says a breakdown in negotiations could still happen. "We've been working on some things," said Jennings to the Journal Sentinel. "We're coming pretty close, as far as my understanding is, to some type of a deal. "But when I say close, we could still be far, if that makes sense. But I think we're coming close. You just never know how long 'close' can take to actually closing the deal." Thompson neither confirmed nor denied the status of the negotiations. Jennings' current three year, $2.85 million contract expires at the end of this year. The largest recent wide receiver signings in the NFL is the deal for Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald ($10 million/year). More: Journal Sentinel |
