Fmr. Bucks Coach Del Harris RetiresFormer Milwaukee Bucks head coach Del Harris has retired after a 33-year career in the NBA. Harris was hired in 1987 to coach the Bucks, and in his four-plus year tenure in Milwaukee, he went 191-154 and made four playoff appearances, going 6-15 with one appearance in the conference semifinals and three first-round exits. The 71-year-old Harris is leaving Tuesday after one season as an assistnat coach with the Chicago Bulls working under coach Vinny Del Negro. Harris spent 12 seasons as a head coach with three teams. In addition to the Milwaukee, he coached the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston. He took the Rockets to the NBA finals in 1981 and was also coach of the year in 1995 with the Lakers. He also worked as an assistant in Dallas. In all, he made 27 trips to the playoffs. |
