WIAA Boys Soccer Semifinal Roundup

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Freshman forward Aaron Horvat scored two goals, helping Waukesha Catholic Memorial to a 4-0 victory over Dodgeville/Mineral Point in Division 2 semifinals of the WIAA state boys soccer tournament Friday.

The Crusaders (19-3-3) advance to Saturday's title game against defending champion Green Bay Notre Dame (23-3-2), which beat Pewaukee 2-1 in the other semifinal.

Notre Dame scored the winner in the 78th minute when Pewaukee goaltender Mike Wedeward deflected a shot into his own goal.

"It was an unfortunate bad bounce," Pewaukee coach Randy Staus said.

In Division 1, Milwaukee Marquette beat Mequon Homestead 1-0 in overtime.

Marquette (21-2-1) will play for the championship against Muskego (26-3), a 2-0 winner over Milton.

In Division 3, Chippewa Falls McDonell/Eau Claire Regis defeated University School in a shootout, and Columbus beat New Holstein, also in a shootout.

McDonell/Regis is 24-1-3 and Columbus is 19-5-3.
