Report: Cameron To Yankees in Trade for Melky Cabrera

By By Jay Sorgi

The New York Yankees are raiding the Milwaukee Brewers' cupboard again, but this time, they're giving something back.

The New York Daily News reports that the Brewers and Yankees are set to complete a trade to send outfielder Mike Cameron to New York, while bringing young outfielder Melky Cabrera to the Brewers in exchange.

620WTMJ Brewers 360 contributor and Journal Sentinel Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt said on Wisconsin's Morning News that other elements to the trade could be involved, and on his blog, he states that the Yankees also want third baseman Bill Hall.

Cabrera hit .249 with 8 home runs and 37 RBI's in 129 games for New York.

Cameron hit .243 with 25 home runs and 70 RBI's in 120 games for Milwaukee.

It's widely reported that Cameron and CC Sabathia became close friends during Sabathia's half-season in Milwaukee, during which the Brewers made their first post-season appearance in 26 years.

Haudricourt expands on that idea, stating that Hall and Sabathia have also become close.

On Wednesday, Sabathia and the Yankees agreed to the majority of the terms in a seven-year, $161,000,000 contract.
