Sabathia Wins Spahn Award

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- C.C. Sabathia has been named the winner of the 2008 Warren Spahn Award as the best left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball.

This is the second straight Spahn Award for Sabathia, who went 17-10 with a career best 2.70 ERA for Cleveland and Milwaukee last season.

Sabathia was traded by the Indians in midseason to Milwaukee where he went 11-2 to lead the Brewers to the National League playoffs.

He's currently a free agent.

The award is named baseball Hall-of-Famer and longtime Oklahoma resident Warren Spahn whose 363 career wins is the record for a left-hander.

Sabathia says he plans to be in Oklahoma City to accept the award from the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame Museum in January.
