Diener to Coach at Hamilton

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The popular coach who led Milwaukee Vincent to five state championships has been hired across town.

Tom Diener will coach at Milwaukee Hamilton after changing his mind about coaching at suburban Grafton. He was hired there in May, but changed his mind because he wasn't able to sell his house in Milwaukee. Diener was then hired as a special education teacher at Hamilton in June.

Former Hamilton coach Jim Bruton was released in August.

Diener is 379-170 over 23 seasons at Vincent, Green Bay West, St. Mary's Springs and Muskego.

Diener is part of a family with deep basketball roots in Wisconsin. Diener's brother, Dick, compiled a record of 434-142 in 22 seasons at Fond du Lac and three at Colfax. His nephew Travis plays for the Indiana Pacers.
