KGB Says He'll Be Training Camp ReadyKnee Surgery Won't Slow Him DownBy Lance Allan
GREEN BAY - Green Bay Packers defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila says recovery from surgery is something new for him. During college and eight years in the NFL, he's never had to undergo surgery until now.
But he's hoping to be recovered from knee surgery and ready to go for training camp.
The operation he had in the offseason forced him to miss the Packers' voluntary practices and this week's mandatory minicamp.
He began the offseason doing exercises to strengthen an ankle that bothered him last season, but that made his knee flare up.
Team doctors told him he needed surgery to fix a torn meniscus, so he had it done.
Now he's doing low-impact exercises such as climbing on a StairMaster and running in a swimming pool.
But he doesn't expect to miss any of training camp as he gets ready for the season.
