(AP) -- Wisconsin men's basketball coach Bo Ryan was named Tuesday to coach the U.S. team for the World University Games July 2-12 in Belgrade, Serbia. It's Ryan's third USA Basketball coaching assignment but first as a head coach. He most recently was an assistant to coach Lon Kruger for the 1995 USA World University Games team featuring future Olympians in Ray Allen, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson and Kerry Kittles. That team went 7-0 in winning the gold medal. He also was an assistant for the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival North team that went 4-0 and won gold. "Anytime you're asked by USA Basketball to coach, especially with the way things are for USA Basketball with our position in the world, the fact that we won the Olympics again, it's quite an honor," Ryan said. Players eligible for this summer's team must be U.S. citizens, born between Jan. 1, 1985 and Dec. 31, 1991, enrolled as full-time college students with remaining eligibility for the 2009-10 school year.
