SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Milwaukee Brewers manager Ken Macha says closer Trevor Hoffman has been sidelined by a Grade 1 strain to his right oblique muscle.
Macha said Tuesday the team's trainers "aren't very concerned" about the injury, but the team will proceed cautiously. The 41-year-old Hoffman has missed one scheduled appearance this spring and has not been scheduled going forward.
He signed a one-year, $6 million contract as a free agent after San Diego pulled its offer off the table last winter. Hoffman is the major leagues' career leader with 554 saves.
