(AP) -- Milwaukee Brewers manager Ken Macha remains confident that third baseman Bill Hall will be ready for the start of the regular season He added Monday that Craig Counsell is ahead of Mike Lamb in competition at the position this spring. Hall has not played this spring after tearing a left calf muscle. But he appears closer to returning after hitting a home run in a simulated game Sunday. Macha also says Braden Looper is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday. The right-hander is sidelined by a sore oblique muscle. Macha says Looper's availability for the start of the regular season is still a "gray area." (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
