Bucks Wives Collecting Shoes for Needy in South Africa
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The families of several Milwaukee Bucks are asking for shoes to send to South Africa as part of their "Soles 2 Souls" initiative.
Kenya Bell, wife of Charlie Bell, and Jane Boylan, wife of assistant coach Jim Boylan, saw the need among both children and adults for shoes during their summer trip to Africa as part of the NBA's Basketball Without Borders program.
A group of players' wives, girlfriends and family members will collect gently worn and new shoes Wednesday at the Bradley Center and will give out "I Gave My Sole" stickers supporting the project.
The shoes then will be sent to the NBA's office in New York and included with other items to be sent to Africa as part of a program that began in 2003.
