Brewers, L.A. Fight for HoffmanBy By Jay SorgiThe Brewers and all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman could agree to a deal today. TODAY'S TMJ4's Lance Allan says Brewers general manager Doug Melvin are considering a two-year deal which the longtime San Diego Padre would prefer, or a one-year deal with an option for a second, which is the team's desire. But there could be some close competition coming from Hoffman's backyard. The Los Angeles Dodgers are potentially the greatest competition for Hoffman.
Hoffman earned $7.5 million in 2008, and converted 30 of 34 save opportunities for the Padres. He has 554 career saves, the all-time MLB record. |
