Report: Brewers Pursuing HoffmanBy By Jay SorgiThe Brewers' relief staff might be getting some assistance from a probable future Hall of Famer for the 2009 season. 620WTMJ "Brewers 360" contributor and Journal Sentinel Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt says general manager Doug Melvin is looking into trying to sign former San Diego Padres reliever Trevor Hoffman, the all-time MLB saves leader, for the '09 campaign. "Right now, he is (our top choice)," Melvin told Haudricourt. "We've talked parameters. I'd like to know sooner than later." Hoffman converted 30 of 34 save opportunities in 2008 for the Padres, finishing nearly half of the team's 63 wins.
