In Scott Skiles' system, all players on the Bucks have to play defense to an extent. Because of that, Michael Redd's offensive output has suffered so far this season.

However, Redd broke out Friday night with a season high 31 points. He scored all of his points in the first three quarters as the Bucks beat the Charlotte Bobcats 103-75 at the Bradley Center Friday night. Milwaukee has now beaten the Bobcats five straight times and have won five of seven overall.

"Tonight he had a hot hand," Skiles said. "He's a very, very good shooter. We know that. We've asked a lot of Michael so far this year and he's done it. We've asked him to not only guard his individual man but be involved in out team defensive concept. He's become a way above average defender."

Redd went 6-7 from the field in the first quarter en route to 18 points and ended up with 28 in the first half.

"Just playing basketball and having fun," Redd said. "My teammates did a good job of looking for me and setting screens for me. Definitely, a tremendous night for us team wise. We played great."

Charlie Villanueva added a season high 27 points off the bench for Milwaukee. Villanueva had scored a total of 14 points on 4-22 shooting in the previous three games.

"Didn't finish the '08 year like I wanted to but it's a new year," Villanueva said. "I knew it was just a matter of time for me to get out of that slump that I was in."

The Bucks went on a 13-2 run to end the first half and continued that run in the third quarter by scoring the first five points of the second half. Milwaukee took a 10-9 lead in the first quarter and would not give up the lead during the rest of the game.

The defense for Milwaukee was solid throughout most of the game as they forced Charlotte into 23 turnovers and held the Bobcats to under 38 percent from the field.

Boris Diaw led Charlotte with 16 points while Emeka Okafor and Gerald Wallace each had 11. Okafor had a double-double with 12 rebounds.

Milwaukee will go for the the season sweep of the Bobcats Saturday night in Charlotte.

"It's hard to beat a team back to back times," Skiles said. "Hopefully we'll be able to have another good effort and we will live with the result."

Managing Member of Basketball Operations of the Bobcats Michael Jordan sat a few rows behind the Charlotte bench during the game. Jordan received a standing ovation after the third quarter when he was shown on the jumbo tron.

"I didn't even know he was in the building," Redd said. "Good to see him. Obviously, he will probably put something in my ear (Saturday) before the game."

Redd moved into fifth place on the Bucks all-time scoring list in the second quarter passing Marques Johnson.

"I'll reflect in the summer time," Redd said. "Got to keep moving, keep grooving. I got so much respect for the heritage of this organization. Milwaukee and Senator Kohl have been loyal to me over the years. I'm grateful and humble just to be here and to be in that top five is amazing."

Bucks center Andrew Bogut missed the team's shoot around Friday with back spasms that have been bothering Bogut the last few weeks. He scored just two points in 27 minutes of action.

"It's just one of those things where it will probably take more rest," Bogut said. "Pulled up real well after Christmas because we had a couple of days off but the schedule this month is brutal. We will see what happens (Saturday) if I can go or out and go from there."

The Bucks play four games each of the next four weeks. Milwaukee will go for the the season sweep of the Bobcats Saturday night in Charlotte.

"It's hard to beat a team back to back times," Skiles said. "Hopefully we'll be able to have another good effort and we will live with the result."
