Missing Girl's Family Pleading For Help
Oostburg--The family of a 9 year old girl missing in Lake Michigan is begging for the public's help.
Sofia Khan was vacationing near Oostburg with her family Wednesday when she went missing. She and other children were kayaking near the shore when a strong west wind pushed her into the lake.
Search crews looked all of Wednesday night and Thursday but have found no sign of the girl. The search ended Thursday evening.
Sofia's family will remain in Sheboygan County until they find her. Neighbors have volunteered their homes, food and clothing. Some have allowed the Khan family to use their 4 wheelers and boats for the search.
They are grateful to the neighbors as well as to the search and rescue crews who spent a day and a half looking for Sofia.
"There's still a glimmer of hope. Nobody's found her," he said. Sofia is 9 years old, 4'2", with dark hair and olive skin. If you see her, you are asked to call the Sheboygan County Sheriff.

"We've just got so many people, that have done so much to this point, that we just couldn't thank them all," said Gene Howe, Sofia's grandfather.
Now they are asking for more help. Omer wants people to walk along Lake Michigan looking for Sofia and to be on the lookout in their boats. They are especially focused on the shoreline between Port Washington and Sheboygan.
"Whether or not you can participate in the search, please remember my Sofia in your prayers," he said.
Officials have called off their search. They do not believe Sofia could have survived all this time. Omer, however, has not given up hope. Sofia was a strong active little girl. He thinks she may have found land.
But, Sofia's father, Omer Khan is not giving up. "We're not going to stop until she's back with us," he told TODAYS TMJ4.
