MPD Under Salary Budget, Over OT Budget
Preliminary figures from the city's budget office says Milwaukee police overtime ran more than $1 million over budget last year.
Despite that, the department's total spending on salaries came in more than $2,500,000 under budget.
Alderman Michael Murphy, the chairman of the Council's Finance & Personnel Committee, praised police chief Edward Flynn.
Murphy tells the Journal Sentinel the city has a chief who knows who to manage a department without thinking he needs a blank check.
