Jenny Crain and Team Jenny
CUDAHY - In most races the cheers are usually for those who cross the finish line. Sunday in Cudahy they could be heard at the starting line for a runner who almost lost her life.
Jenny Crain is back in a place she loves.
"I feel really excited because all my friends are here," said in Crain.
Team Jenny is running in the Cudahy Classic. Jenny will be in a stroller the team calls Big Red.
"It gives me goose bumps, said Crain's friend Kris Hinrichs. "I'm almost in tears thinking about how far Jenny has come in the last three years."
Three years of grueling, painful physical therapy after being hit by a car while running near downtown Milwaukee. Jenny can now walk and today she'll be participating in her first race.
"This is a race that I have done for a lot of years," said Jenny.
That's when she ran fast, really fast and was trying to qualify for the Olympics. Now she's fast becoming an inspiration to everyone around her.
It's a great team effort and with the help of friends and family - Jenny is winning.
"She's doing good. She has good days and bad days but today is going to be a great day for her," said Hinrichs.
Team Jenny finished the five miles in 50 minutes as runners in the race and along the route cheered for Jenny.
