Cudahy Murder Suspect Arrested

By Jay Olstad

MILWAUKEE - James Szuta made his first court appearance in Milwaukee County Friday.

He's accused of killing John Weinhold, an Oak Creek father of three, last month in what appears to be a fight over money.

"On Thursday July 29th, 2010, James R. Szuta was arrested for the first degree homicide of John Weinhold. James Szuta was arrested at his South Milwaukee residence without incident," said Chief Thomas Poellot with the Cudahy Police Department.

It was late last month when Weinhold's wife, Sara reported her husband missing. A day later an officer found him dead in a mini-van with two bullets to his head near Cudahy Park.

His wife told TODAY'S TMJ4 last month, she knew something wasn't right.

"We knew right away after not hearing from him for an hour that something was wrong," said Sara Weinhold.

The Weinhold family wasn't up to talking on camera Friday, but say Szuta was actually at their home hours before John went missing.

According to investigators, Szuta says he owed Weinhold money and that Weinhold was pressing him for it.

The criminal complaint also alleges, "Weinhold was a dealer of prescription drugs and always carried large amounts of money."

That's something his family says they were unaware of and quite frankly don't believe, describing Weinhold as a good man who loved his kids.

"He also believed in justice and I know that justice will be served," Weinhold said in June.

Szuta is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
