MPD Officer Survives Being Dragged by Car
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee Police officer on a bicycle was dragged by a fleeing driver in an incident on the city's north side.
Officers arrested the suspect, a 17-year-old boy, after he went to a hospital with a knee injury.
Two uniformed officers spotted a suspicious car near North 38th and West Hadley Streets. A police spokeswoman says the driver was consistently blowing his car horn.
As the officers came to interview the man, he hit the accelerator.
He then headed south on 38th Street, hitting one of the police officers.
His partner opened fire as the car kept going, dragging the officer who is in stable condition this morning.
The suspect was not hit by the partner's gunshots.
The stolen car was found about six blocks away.
Police arrested the suspect, and the spokeswoman explained that he admitted his involvement.
According to police, he was wanted for escaping from a juvenile facility.
