MILWAUKEE- After more than 100 years in Milwaukee, Harley Davidson is threatening to move.
The company, which was founded in Milwaukee in 1903, may move if they cannot find the savings they need after losing $55 million last year. Many workers are scared for their jobs.
“After 22 years of being here, it’s been a nice place to work. It doesn’t feel the same,” said a Harley Davidson employee.
Company executives are sitting down with union leaders this week in order to find a way for Harley to stay in Wisconsin. The production workers' contract expires in 20 months.
A company spokesperson has stated that scouts are already investigating other cities for its engine and transmission departments.
1,100 jobs are at stake in Milwaukee alone and another 320 jobs in Tomahawk.
