Injured Sheboygan Mom Back in U.S.
SAN ANTONIO -- Becca Laura-Ruiz is back in the United States. She's getting needed medical care after spending a week in a Mexican hospital.
A car crash near Monterrey left Becca with nine broken ribs and the collapse of both of her lungs.
Family members say the care she received in Mexico was horrible, leading them to work to bring Becca back to the United States. Becca's 15-year-old daughter, also injured in the crash, was flown to a hospital in San Antonio. Unfortunately, Becca herself wasn't well enough to take that flight.
Katy Nytes, Becca's sister, and other family members resorted to a pricey option: They hired a specialized private air ambulance to bring Becca across the border.
"She getting the proper care she needs now so it does look like she will make a full recovery. It's going to take a lot of time and rehabilitation," according to Nytes.
